How to Get Over the Fear of Spiders

If you have a fear of spiders, otherwise known as arachnophobia, you know that it can be a serious problem. There are many ways to help get over the fear of spiders and this article will talk about how you can overcome your fear using my integrated hypnosis approach, without CBT or exposure therapy.

Although some people may have a natural aversion to spiders, others may develop this fear after being bitten by one or seeing a friend or family member get bit. If you’re living with the fear of spiders, it can affect almost every aspect of your life.

Not only that, you have to deal with the responses of friends and family who think you are either crazy or overreacting.  Rest assured, you are neither and many people are unware about how fears and phobias work.

Arachnophobia affects as many as one in five women and one in 20 men. The condition comes from an insensitivity to spiders or other types of insects (arthropods). For example, if someone touches a spider by accident or sees one crawl across the floor, they may feel disgusted or frightened. This reaction is called "arachnoid," referring to the fact that arachnids have eight legs like insects do—though spiders aren't technically insects because they don't have antennae or wings!

The fear of spiders is learnt, therefore it can be unlearnt. 

All fear is learned, and spiders are no exception. You can learn to fear them if you have a traumatic experience with them, if other people around you have a spider phobia or act frightened of them, or if you see a spider in your home.

Often such fears can seem like they are getting worse over time.  Yet it is possible to completely overcome this fear with a good personalised approach.
